Concept Design: Raccoon Retaliation

Fall 2014

Here is some of my work from the previous semester. My artwork includes piecces from my sculpture, concept design, and jewlery classes.

Concept Class with Jennifer Ely

In our Concept Design class we have been lucky enough to speak with prifessional artist via internet. Becoming familiar with professionals in the art world is a great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoy it.  Jennifer Ely Color Specialist/LAIKA Tips from the artist: Research companies and job descriptions Math the way someone is communicating with you (enthused, relaxed, ect.) CONNECT with people Remember that people are indeed assholes and all that matters is taking a step forward

Colby Parsons Lecture

After listening to Colby Parsons speak in regard to his work, I can see his journey. He has combined two medias, one of digital and the other traditional. His work notably progresses. I enjoyed the work that he made in the beginning but I thoroughly enjoy the pieces that were shown in the PSU gallery. The creation of clay forms is amazing in itself but the way that he chose an entirely different media to mask the surface with is amazing. The way that the projection is interchangeable is something that is a new to myself. I enjoy how relatable all of his work is to our culture and how unique it is at the same time. Although i enjoy the piece created from a messy bedroom floor, my favorite piece that he introduced is Declivity #2. The way that the projection morphed the straight lines into ones that resembled a flowing liquid was breath taking.

Goals for the Remaining Summer

I recently began a creative art journal. I have found this project to be freeing. Merely creativing for myself, sets no limits and brings no judgement. Through this daily outlet I hope to gain a better understanding of myself and sculpt a more creative mind!

Meet Jigs

Hello,  I have not kept up on my work as much as I would have liked to so far this summer. With that being said here is a project I completed. I was given the original piece along with six cutouts. They were to be replicated from the original, painted both front and back. Meet Jigs, a family's friend who can now be passed down to many!

Artist Lecture

Katherine Strause The artist Katherine Strause recently showcased her oil paintings, titled "Cut and Tie", in the gallery of Porter Hall. Her work is unique in the way that she relies on photographs of the past to construct her compositions. First glance her paintings are extraordinary but the added context found in the old photos brings forth a personal touch. Her paintings are expressions of documented moments. All of her work seems to stem from a the same colorful pallet. The bright colors bring life to the old memories.  Her subjects depicted in her recent showing were those of women. Some of her feminine figures were meant to be shown as remaining in a time when things were hopeful. She focuses on the their mere existence on the Earth. Many of her pieces are meant to depict that "where you are is where your from". She also mentions the idea of morality in relation to her work. Some of her further work includes subjects concerning the civil rights of Litt...

My Set Goal

With half of the semester behind me, I feel that it it's time to start setting goals for my last critque. I plan to have a handful of fully finished ipad drawings. To tie all of my work and my research project together I hope to finish with enough quality work to prove that the ipad has been a worthy component added to the art criqulium. I  will be participating in the  PSU Research Colloquium by designing a poster for the computation. Here is my abstract. The New Digital Canvas As our  society  has b ecome a tech savvy  generation   many changes have been established.  In the spring of 2014,   a   new class  was offered to students in the  Art Department of  Pittsb urg State University. A   3 credit class  highlights the advancements in technology ,  by focusing  on constructing artwork through the u se of an  iPad .  The purpose of my research is to gain an understanding of the use of th...

A Day at the Carnival

Since our first critique...

From my critque I gathered that forms portrait I need to create a stronger light source, leaving the left side less lit. It would be best forms to add shadows and reference photos are key! I also began new piece, it was recommended that I used relapsing to create depth, and use the path to lead the eye through the composition.  I plan to continue working on my previous pieces along with composing new. Artfully Crafted. (Catchy and clever)

I really enjoy not only consuming blue moon, but also viewing thiee ads and branding! Their artsy flair appeals to myself and has proven to do the same to others as well. I love this new painterly quality and think it would be something new for me to work with this style as inspiration.  Here is the truck that caught my eye driving home this weekend.  Here are some recent pieces that I have completed. The exercise with the brushed have proven to be very useful due to the fact that I feel that I have already improved in skill since the beginning of the semester.

Those who INSPIRE

From what I have found artist of the name Kyle Lambert is very well known to say the least. Although I will not likely choose celebrities for my subsect I do admire his choice of style when using the iPad. Here are a few examples of work that I am fond of, and link to his website for many more. http://www.kylelambert.co.uk I found this aspiring artists' work very powerful. While it is not similar to my current style I could see myself working in this way to combine my subject matter of "why we are who we are" with the iPad media.
