Writing 5 / Critique 4

I collected feedback on the series I created for the Senior Show. Below Here are a select few from the collection. With the completion of this series I was advised to plan for the future. "It is always keep a new project in mind in order to continue growing artistically", said someone. With this semester coming to an my post is a little extra.  I am proud to announce that I have accepted an internship for the Summer of 2015 with the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation. There I will be contributing my artistic skills to design multiple t-shirts for the organization. With that being said I want to keep a creative mindset through the summer and continue to push myself in the use of new mediums and techniques. I am really interested in the process of animation and while I am not happy with the previous GIF file that I created in the past I hope to make a few more for experience. Artist Lecture: Ariel Bowman

Ariel Bowman's work has recently been showcased in our very own Porter Hall Gallery. Her series titled Magnificent Migration includes prehistoric animals in circus attire.  She presented her work in a professional manor, beginning with some background information about herself and mentioning her influences along the way. She made sure to show the audience plenty of photos relating to her processes which proved to be very helpful. Her work tends to vary in size and it could be hard to imagine how she were to place the pieces together if it weren't for an actual visual in front of us. I did not have any questions for the artist, I believe she did a good job at explaining her work. From the talk I took away the idea that artist put themself into their work more often than not. Ariel said " when we decorate something, we believe its special" and I was able to see where she was coming from with that. For more about Ariel Bowman check out http://www.arielbowman.com/
