Writing 5 / Critique 4

I collected feedback on the series I created for the Senior Show. Below Here are a select few from the collection. With the completion of this series I was advised to plan for the future. "It is always keep a new project in mind in order to continue growing artistically", said someone. With this semester coming to an my post is a little extra.

I am proud to announce that I have accepted an internship for the Summer of 2015 with the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation. There I will be contributing my artistic skills to design multiple t-shirts for the organization. With that being said I want to keep a creative mindset through the summer and continue to push myself in the use of new mediums and techniques. I am really interested in the process of animation and while I am not happy with the previous GIF file that I created in the past I hope to make a few more for experience.

Artist Spotlight:

Gretchen Burns (Commercial Art/Biology)
Last but not least, I have chosen to cast a spotlight on the artist Gretchen Burns. I have been lucky have Gretchen in multiple classes throughout my time at PSU. Although she began as a strong artist I can see a progression through her work. I enjoy Gretchen's realistic yet unique style that is usually achieved through ink and or color prisma markers. Here are a few of my favorite pieces she has completed through critique this semester. If you would like to see more of Gretchen's work or read where her inspiration stems from be sure to check out her blog!

Welcome!

Welcome to Lauren Downing's Art Blog. I am currently a student at Pittsburg State University. My major is Commercial Art and my minor is Graphic Design. Before Pitt State I attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College and took a semester at Kansas University. This is my first semester enrolled in Commercial Art course and I hope to gain a better understanding of which direction I want to go. I have mostly taken drawing classes and feel that that is where I am the strongest. Charcoal is my favorite medium and I enjoy drawing from a realistic point of view. This semester I hope to expand my knowledge and venture into new areas in order to progress as an artist. Lauren A.Downing
