Writing 4(blog posts)for Crit 3

In the past critiques I have received positive feedback from portraits that I have inked. So I have decided to work back in that direction that I enjoy. As of now, I am working to complete a series of portraits using mixed media. I have created a family tree by using graphite and watercolor on bristol. I intend the series as a whole to resemble myself through my style and use of color. I'm working with the idea that family like a tree will branch in many directions but the roots remain the same. Mary, Mixed Media, 2015 Aside from my work, I choose to take a look at  Jacqueline Denton's recent work. While her style always remains consistent, you can see the progression she has made through the recommendations of critique class. Critique 2 (blogpost3)

As for my current independent work, I am working to expand my design portfolio. I feel that I have an advantage in doing so because of the broad span of classes I have taken at Pittsburg State University. I plan to combine the skills I have learned through, my major in Commercial Art, and my minor in Graphic Design. I believe that these two chosen fields not only complement each other, but will bring a unique edge to my portfolio. Right now I am also working on gathering imagery and inspiration for a series. I have found that I enjoy piecing images together, in order to create an entirely new one. I plan to make a family tree that will allow the viewer to see a glimpse into the past through mixed media. I want the series as a whole to reflect upon myself and those that I cherish so greatly. I choose to right a review of Molly McVey's work.
