Critique 2 (blogpost3)

As for my current independent work, I am working to expand my design portfolio. I feel that I have an advantage in doing so because of the broad span of classes I have taken at Pittsburg State University. I plan to combine the skills I have learned through, my major in Commercial Art, and my minor in Graphic Design. I believe that these two chosen fields not only complement each other, but will bring a unique edge to my portfolio.

Right now I am also working on gathering imagery and inspiration for a series. I have found that I enjoy piecing images together, in order to create an entirely new one. I plan to make a family tree that will allow the viewer to see a glimpse into the past through mixed media. I want the series as a whole to reflect upon myself and those that I cherish so greatly.

I choose to right a review of Molly McVey's work. She mostly works in photography and since our last critique I can tell that she has taken the advice given and expanded her work from their. While I did enjoy her first fox image I feel that the outline images since then are stronger. This outlining method is nice on the flower photographs because it highlights the delicate edges. Great job Molly, keep up the good work!

Welcome!

Welcome to Lauren Downing's Art Blog. I am currently a student at Pittsburg State University. My major is Commercial Art and my minor is Graphic Design. Before Pitt State I attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College and took a semester at Kansas University. This is my first semester enrolled in Commercial Art course and I hope to gain a better understanding of which direction I want to go. I have mostly taken drawing classes and feel that that is where I am the strongest. Charcoal is my favorite medium and I enjoy drawing from a realistic point of view. This semester I hope to expand my knowledge and venture into new areas in order to progress as an artist. Lauren A.Downing
