Writing (blog post)_1

Here is a reintroduction on my current status and my initial plans to conclude my senior year.

My name is Lauren Downing, and I am currently majoring in Commercial Art and minoring in Graphic Design at Pittsburg State University. I plan to find an internship for this summer, graduate in December and then hope to find a career in my field of study.

I am inspired by many artist. I enjoy the realistic aspects of Kyle Lambert's work. Although I do not choose celebrities for my subsect I do admire his choice of style when using the iPad. Here are a few examples of work that I am fond of, and link to his website for many more. After taking a class on concept design I became very familiar the artist Syd Mead and look to his work for spatial relationship inspiration.

By taking Life Drawing this semester I hope to incorporate my knowledge of human anatomy in my work. Through this process my work will hopefully be constructed correctly.

Welcome!

Welcome to Lauren Downing's Art Blog. I am currently a student at Pittsburg State University. My major is Commercial Art and my minor is Graphic Design. Before Pitt State I attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College and took a semester at Kansas University. This is my first semester enrolled in Commercial Art course and I hope to gain a better understanding of which direction I want to go. I have mostly taken drawing classes and feel that that is where I am the strongest. Charcoal is my favorite medium and I enjoy drawing from a realistic point of view. This semester I hope to expand my knowledge and venture into new areas in order to progress as an artist. Lauren A.Downing
